JEKYLL ISLAND TOUR WITH LUNCH AT CRANE COTTAGE
From 1886 until 1942, this barrier island was owned by some of the country’s wealthiest families who established a hunting club to enjoy the island’s mild winter climate. Described as “by far the most exclusive social club that had ever existed,” the Jekyll Island Club’s members were reported to have controlled more than one-sixth of the world’s wealth. Its members included J.P. Morgan, William Rockefeller, Vincent Astor, Joseph Pultizer and William Vanderbilt. Enjoy a guided tour of the historic district and the interior of two cottages as well as historic Faith Chapel with its original Tiffany window. Historic Crane Cottage is the venue for a casual lunch. The cottage was designed in 1917 by Chicago architects Adler and Dangler and was inspired by an Italian Renaissance villa admired by Richard T. Crane, Jr., the original owner.
